Vigilant Global adopts two grade schools through the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation
by Adelaide Z | October 17, 2012Grade-school students from two Montreal schools were greeted with a surprise this morning upon getting to school. They were the happy recipients of over 400 books donated by Vigilant Global through the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation.
St. Anthony Elementary – in the western part of Montreal – reached 60% of its target book fundraising for the 2012-2013 school year while Pierre Elliott Trudeau Elementary in the center of the city reached 100% of this year’s objective.
Both schools offer a bilingual curriculum to their students as part of the growing trend towards English/French immersion schools in the province of Quebec.
The Foundation’s goal is to encourage the love of reading in every child and to bring new books into public grade-school libraries in disadvantaged areas across Canada. The organization donates $1.5 million to schools each year in addition to encouraging Canadians to adopt a school and help fill their library with new books.
