Giving back
by Adelaide Z | March 26, 2010Sometimes, giving up some of your time to help someone means more than any amount of money. The Vigilantes are happy to give our time to the Youth Fusion kids…even when they defeat us miserably during our basketball games. But hey, they have youth on their side, right?
Youth Fusion is a Montreal-based charity whose aim is to motivate youth to counter drop-out rates by matching high school students at risk of dropping out with university students. The idea is simple; show the kids someone cares about their future, and that without education, their future might be bleaker than it really should be.
The university students give up some of their time and mentor the kids at their school, starting after school programs or projects that open the kids’ eyes to things they might otherwise never know about. You can't put a price tag on that.
