A solid play by Vigilant Global at GOAL Montreal
by Adelaide Z | September 5, 2014On Sunday August 24th, several Vigilantes strapped on their best shin guards to play soccer for GOAL Montreal. The games started at noon, and lasted until 5 pm. Vigilant began playing at 12:30 on an indoor field, safe from the beating sun. Their first match against the Sticky Media print shop was a complete victory; with an 8-0 end score. The team also won their next two games; one with Gepetto’s pizza and the other against the Irish Embassy/Ye Olde Orchard duo. They tied in the following game with the All-Stars, finally losing by a single point in the shootout period. The team members joined other excited onlookers for the rest of the tournament. At the end of the day, Rouge Bar was declared the tournament winner and the day was considered a complete success!
GOAL Lion's Cup Soccer was conceptualized to assemble local celebrities and sponsors, including: clothing stores, designers, restaurants and bars, to form a collective fundraising tournament to raise money for local charities in and around Montreal. Active participants in the tournament vie for the opportunity to win the coveted Lion’s Cup Trophy.
‘GOAL’ Lion’s Cup Soccer Tournament is a community and family event. ‘GOAL’ assembles merchants, employees, residents, children, families, volunteers, stars and athletes with the goal to unite at one common juncture – to raise funds for underfunded and underprivileged organizations. Engaging activities throughout the tournament include: food, drink, live music, a soccer skills clinic, and pick-up games.
Congratulations to to the team for their awesome effort to help GOAL fundraise for the Tyndale St-Georges Community Center. To date, the organization has raised over $100, 000.
